On September, 15, Frances Adamson, Australian Ambassador to China, and Graeme Leslie Meehan, Australian Minister to Shanghai, escorted by YANG Zhigang, President of WS, and YANG Shaoxi, Deputy General Manager, visited the Shuangliu base.
Ms Adamson and company visited the six-span plate unit line, the outdoor berth, the launching slipway and the four-span shop in the Shuangliu base, and gasped with admiration for the modern production lines and the consummate skill of the workers in WS. Then an information discussion was held between them and WS. YANG Zhigang, on behalf WS, extended welcome to Frances Adamson and company, detailed the achievement of WS in the international and domestic markets, and hoped to strengthen the cooperation with Australian enterprises within the strategic framework of “One Belt, One Road” to promote the development of Sino-Australian trade for a win-win situation.
Ms Adamson said, WS, one of the most important shipbuilding enterprises affiliated to CSIC, by transition and upgrading in recent years, developed rapidly in many fields, and made satisfying achievements not only in the ship industry and the bridge sector but also in other fields. Australia, as a major country along the “One Belt, One Road”, attached great importance to the economic and trade contacts with Chinese enterprises. To jointly build the “21st Century Maritime Silk Route Economic Belt” is a new opportunity for Australian enterprises. For her, such enterprises with abundant potential as WS are welcome to invest in the fields of infrastructure in Australia, including buildings, bridges and wharfs, and cooperate with local enterprises for complementary development.
