Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center is a large exhibition building adopting international standards, focusing on conventions and exhibitions, and also feature convention & exhibition related showcasing, demonstration, show, and assembly. The bodywork is 540 meters long in the east-west direction, 282 meters in the north-south direction, and 60 meters high; with conference halls, exhibition halls, underground garages and varieties of associated houses, the building covers an area of 220,000 square meters, and has a floor area of 280,000 square meters, and an exhibition area of 110,000 square meters. It can accommodate 1 super large exhibition with 5,500 international standard booths or 3 large exhibitions with 2,000 international standard booths simultaneously or several small exhibitions simultaneously. WS undertook the fabrication of the steel structures for the Ⅰ bid section of Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center, which mainly included: 126-metre-span steel beams for 22 roof trusses, 36-meter-span steel beams for 4 roof trusses, 60-metre-span steel beams for 9 roof trusses, machined and installed purlins, columns, horizontal bracings, connecting end beams, web members and lower cantilevers. The total weight of the structure’s steel is about 18,500 tons. In 2005, it was given the Prize for Outstanding Contribution to Shenzhen.
