The flexible anti-collision devices for the main piers of Zhanjiang Bay Bridge are the first of its kind in the world, and comprise internal pontoons, external pontoons, flexible energy-absorbing anti-collision rings, main columns and stay cables. One pier uses total 1,460 tons of steel; an internal pontoon is a circular pontoon with uniform cross-sections comprising 6 pontoon blocks connected with bolts; an external pontoon is a circular pontoon with variable cross-sections comprising 12 pontoon blocks connected with bolts. During the construction, WS applied the internal complete quality assurance system, strictly followed design drawings, strictly implemented the technical specifications on construction, and overcame many difficulties, with the fabrication quality and the installation quality being well received by the owner.
