WS has a state level Technology Center, the National Academician Work Center for Hi-end Ship and Ocean Engineering Equipment, and has been appraised as the Top Ten Enterprises in Innovation Capacity in China’s Ship Industry, the National High Technology Enterprise, and the National Model in Technical Innovation. In 2014, WS ranked third in among the enterprise technology centers of national level in China’s ship industry.

The Enterprise Information Space Engineering and computer-aided full three-dimensional production design system have been established in WS; WS can conduct simulation, modeling and comprehensive arrangement of the whole ship with 3D technology; Thus the Company takes the lead in informatization of design, manufacture and management, and the largest military industry measuring station and material & structure testing center in central China are established in the Company. The Company boasts advanced test technology, precision test instruments and comprehensive test approaches.
WS has a military trade design institute and several independent design companies; With a series of technical standards and process codes established in the major product field, the Company boasts all-round strength from design and detailing to production design for ship programs, and many excellent ship types with independent intellectual properties. WS cooperates with the general design institutes, the performance institutes and the equipment institutes of CSIC in China and works with reputable leading design companies in the world market for joint design. WS plays a leading role in technology research and development in this industry, and has been awarded with nearly a hundred prizes in technical achievement of national, provincial or department level, and many of the technologies by WS reach advanced international standards.
WS takes account of the demand on standardization from the long-term development, and implements pilot programs for the standardized management of its key products; it plans the standards for which it enjoys an advantage and strives to win support from the authority for the company’s standard research projects. The company has prepared or revised 68 standards of the industry or higher level and completed 12 standardization research projects. Among them, 5 national standards and 45 industrial standards are edited or co-edited by the company. The technical standard system has been basically established. Total 1,200 technical standards have been prepared or revised to basically cover the design, production, inspection, and test of ship products, and gradually meet the company’s requirements for high-quality development.
